Are you still trying to shed those holiday pounds? I feel ya! Sometimes it seems like by the time my digestive system and waistline recover from the holidays they’re already here again. (If I’m not careful the same can be said for my wallet, but that’s another story). The summer isn’t always weight-friendly either.
Those family vacations can be a killer for even the most disciplined dieter (which I am not). To make things a little easier on myself, I’ve identified some super easy weight loss tips. And I’d like to share them with you today… if that’s okay. Then we’ll wrap things up with an awesome lemon water weight loss recipe I’ve been using.
Yes, I have a lemon water weight loss recipe. Just hang on. You’ll see what I mean.
Hopefully these easy (and in most cases frugal) weight loss tips will help you feel more positive about your own weight loss journey. Ready? Let’s get to it!
Forget Fads
This applies to diets and most fashion trends! Diet fads like taking special pills, cutting carbs by 90%, and only eating green foods aren’t sustainable in the long term. (Yes, I made that last one up). Plus, they may cause other health issues. Instead, try simply introducing more healthy foods into your diet such as fruits and vegetables. If you’re frequently on the go, consider these 26 healthy drinks. They’re quick, easy, and can be taken on the road.
Tip: I recommend starting off by tracking what you eat naturally for a week, so you can see where any trouble areas are. This printable food journal will do the job fine. For example, if you’re drinking a grande white chocolate mocha made with 2% milk from Starbucks every morning that’s 400 calories right there! Consider replacing that high calorie drink with a healthy smoothie (see link above) or the lemon water weight loss recipe in this article.
Lighten Your Fav Foods
Dieting is not all or nothing. If you it treat it like that you will fail. This means occasionally indulging your guilty pleasures. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, I recommend one of these desserts in a jar as most are just a few bites. Another trick is to lighten the foods you love. For example, if you can’t get enough pizza, consider making your own at home with cauliflower crust. In addition, you can cut calories by making your own low calorie salad dressings.
Tip: You can use this salad dressing tip to save calories even when you eat out. Don’t be embarrassed to take your own dressing to a restaurant!
Hydrate
Drink water. A lot of water. Like the lemon water weight loss drink found in this article. Why is drinking water important? I’ll let Jillian Michaels answer that, “Hydration can curb hunger and boost your metabolism by up to 3 percent! Drink water until your pee looks like lemonade.” You heard her!
Cook with Coconut Oil
I’ve talked (and talked) about the health benefits of coconut oil on this site… so I’ll let Authority Nutrition tell you why it is so good for weight loss.
“It [coconut oil] is high in special fats called medium chain triglycerides, which are metabolized differently than other fats. These fats have been shown to boost metabolism by 120 calories per day, and also reduce your appetite so that you eat up to 256 fewer calories per day.”
Suck a Lemon (or Eat Citrus)
Citrus fruits (ex. grapefruit) contain vitamin C. Vitamin C inhibits the production of cortisol which tells your body to (basically) store fat. Consuming citrus daily, such as with the lemon water weight loss drink in this article, can help with dieting.
Mix Things Up
I’m talking about your workouts here. Don’t do the exact same workout every day. If you do, you probably aren’t working all your different muscles. Plus, that’d be really (really) boring. If something is boring you aren’t going to want to do it, right? Try different workouts. Mix it up between cardio and strength training because both have benefits. You can use this fitness journal to keep track of what workouts you’ve been doing.
That’s it. That’s what I’ve got. I hope it helps you. Personally, I can’t wait to try most of these out. So… without further ado, let’s dive into the lemon water weight loss recipe.
